a very special day!

Sunday marks a special day...my Mom's 75th birthday!!  What a blessed and joyous occasion this will be for our family to celebrate this wonderful and monumental occasion for the supreme matriarch of our family.  so it is only fitting that a card match the occasion.  ordinarily, i wouldn't dare make a card this elaborate for her or anyone else for that matter; its not really my style.  but since she is such a grand woman and since it is a grand occasion, it called for grand measures! :)  I chose a "wine" theme because she has truly gotten better with time.

so here's to you mommy from your one and only middle child!  Love you so much! SMOOCHES!

Thinking of You

revival of the blog

2012 and it's the revival of the blog! I have challenged myself to share my creativity and not be such a hoarder in all things so it begins. Most of the things i make aren't to sell, they are for gifts. i love to give a handmade gift for any occasion. So I will post some of those well after the gift has been given just to show some differing styles in my repertoire.

It has been baby season the past few months so I am posting my latest baby gifts.  Enjoy!  polite

new inspirations

so sad that i haven't published a post in almost a year :(. too much going on. but I intend to rectify this oversight and publish a few of my latest! First up is the invite I did for Camden's "Buggy" 1st birthday party. This one was VERY fun! Andrea gave me the idea and after a little thought, I came up with a bug with movable wings that revealed the invite. I placed him on a leaf and wahooo -- a Bug's Life 2!!

Recently, I did a cute invite for a friend who bought my services from a silent auction. It was for her daughter's 3rd birthday and it included invites and treat bags. They turned out really cute! She wanted Dora (I know, I know I don't usually do licensed characters :)) but it was a very small job :). Here's how they turned out.
Thanks so much for looking and hopefully see you soon!

Time

i find it really hard to have "time" to create. i create now on a project by project basis whereas in the past, i created ALL the time. i still have a million and 22 ideas floating in my head all at one time, but not enough "time" to get them done. i was thinking today if i had my own studio outside of the house, would i be more productive? answer, NO. still have to do all the things at home so might as well be there so if there is one small bit of "time" i can carve it out for my creativity. so i wait...for what? for "time"

end of the year

well, it is the end of the year. it has really gone by quickly in some spots and slowly in others. while i set a goal to concentrate on my business this year, i haven't been able to focus as i would have wanted due to the stresses of nic's diagnosis. however, i'm not complaining. i would have done it all over again the same way to have been with nic at just about every therapy appointment and evaluation. in retrospect, i have become a better mom this year.

here's to 2010 that my creativity will continue to blossom and that i will have outlets in which to sell my designs. may many blessings flow from me to others.

ending my hiatus

well, after a lengthy hiatus, i am back on the blogging scene. alot has transpired over the past several months and i'm just getting back into the general swing. had several graduation invitation projects which i am very thankful for and about to embark on a beautiful wedding invitation for a young couple. the creative juices have not stopped flowing but i have noticed that i have less and less time to play with techniques and to have fun in my office. it seems i am always beginning, in the middle of, or ending a project. not complaining!!! I love the work. just want to work on nic's book here and there and perfect some more techniques.

our group is currently seeking out opportunities to showcase our products to the public. look out for more information and details as we figure them out.

lastly, i want to impress upon you the importance of volunteering for the charity or cause of your choice. you'll be amazed at how good you feel afterwards and the rewards are unending for both sides. consider it.

smooches!

coasters

i have been very busy perfecting my coasters over the last few weeks. i think i have finally gotten it down to a science. i made a few greek designs (of course) but i also made some unique one's for a friend's house warming gift. i'll post pictures -- she is a poet and these are a few titles of her poems. i'm hoping she doesn't just cruise my site and spoil the surprise! i hope she loves them.
